Bobcats!

Bobcat

In spite of its small size, the bobcat is a ferocious predator. It has the ability to kill an animal as large as a deer. The female bobcat teaches her young to hunt two weeks after they are born. If the bobcat makes a big kill, it will drag its prey to a safe location, eat what it desires, and then cover up the rest to return later to feed. This allows it to feed a number of times on a single kill.

The bobcat can be distinguished from other cats by its ear tufts and ruffs of hair on the sides its face. Its fur is mainly brown and beige with darker shades making up the spots.

  • Unlike other cats, the bobcat’s tail is relatively short. This is possibly where it gets its name.
  • The bobcat likes to live and hunt alone.
  • The growl of the bobcat is easily confused with the growl of a mountain lion.
  • The bobcat is the most common wildcat in North America.CLASS: Mammalia (mammal)

Elephants!

I had someone ask for elephants so...

The elephant is the largest living land mammal in the world.

Elephant

The elephant is the largest living land mammal in the world. An elephant has large bones filled with sponge bone instead of marrow, and pads on its feet that absorb the shock from its heavy weight. Its ears are packed with blood vessels and are fanned to bring down body temperature. Its thick skin is tender, and an elephant rolls in the dust to protect it from the hot sun and insects. Elephants love water and like to bathe daily, spraying their bodies and each other with their trunks. They drink nearly 40 gallons (151 l) of water at a time and can eat as much as 500 pounds (227 kg) of vegetation, consisting of fruit, branches, grass, and other foliage.

Hey there!  I'm Hannah Ashley...
I live a joyful, crazy life.  Being second born of 7 kids, the lifestyle I've grown used to over time is anything but slow.  Since graduating school a few years back, I always seem to be packing more in...church activities, grocery trips and making big family meals, driving siblings around town for music lessons, plans for international missions work, and now a photography business on top of all that.  Personally, I don't mind the rushed pace, but I've discovered more recently that being always on the go I forget to stop and look around, observing all the details God has fashioned for our enjoyment.

Anyway, so that's my purpose for setting up this blog...partly for myself, to remind me to slow it down and seek out God's fingerprints, both the visible in creation and the hidden within the pages of the Bible, but also for you, to encourage you to abide in His Word and admire the great Artist as I attempt to capture glimpses of His glory through the lens of my camera.

God bless!
