Great Horned Owl

The great horned owl lives in most areas of North and South America including forests, deserts, and even in cities. Sometimes it is possible to locate owls by listening for their very distinctive hooting call.

 

 

 

Ruby-Throated Hummingbird

One-third of this bird’s total weight is made up of breast muscles. The energy needed is phenomenal—it eats twice its body weight every day. Operating at the same energy level as this tiny bird, our hearts would beat 1,260 times a minute and our body temperature would be 385 degrees centigrade. We would explode!

Frogs

We just learned about frogs and how they grow.  The mother lays the eggs, and the baby is so small that you can't even see it.  You have to use a microscope.  They grow inside of the egg and slowly eat the egg yolk then they hatch.  They slowly grow there back legs, and then they grow there front legs, then they finish the yolk then they grow up into a adult.

A Scallop

THIS IS A SCALLOP :)

The scallop has an incredibly strong muscle that keeps its shell closed. It also uses this muscle to swim, rapidly opening and closing its shell. When the shell closes, it propels water at great force by means of the velum, which is a fold of the mantle used to direct the flow of water around the hinge. The scallop can sharply change its direction by adjusting its velum.
